How can mindfulness help me?
There is considerable research data to show that ongoing mindfulness practice can reduce stress, improve sleep patterns, enhance health and wellbeing and enable you to take a new perspective on life’s ups and downs, restoring a sense of calm, balance and ease.
What happens in the session?
There will be a series of short mindfulness practices including mindfulness of the breath, the body scan practice and some gentle, easy mindful movement as well as some mindfulness-based activities which are relevant to daily life. We will explore how to transform our inbuilt negativity bias and learn ways to avoid the ‘exhaustion funnel’, enabling us to restore balance and ease in life. There will be fun activities to help us develop our awareness and an opportunity to share our experiences in pairs or small groups.
All practices are from the secular mindfulness based courses and there is no religious or spiritual content.
Who is the session for?
All are welcome. If you are considering joining a mindfulness course this session will allow you to explore the type of mindfulness practices and mindfulness-based activities which you will experience on a secular mindfulness course. We will be noticing our thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations, so you may prefer to wait if you are currently/ have recently experienced extremely stressful life events. Under 18s need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
