Modern Pilates is a form of low impact exercise, which strengthens the deep muscles that stabilise the body. There is an emphasis on improving core strength, flexibility, posture, balance and coordination. Exercises are gentle and precise and aim to improve fitness and body awareness. This form of Pilates is a clinical, functional approach devised by Physiotherapists to enable you to learn how to use your body more effectively in everyday activities such as bending, sitting and moving. Modern Pilates teachers receive training in pain science and exercise modifications for people with long-term pain conditions.
